The fourth short exchange of students in BME Két Tanítási Nyelvü Gimnázium in Budapest Hungary

20TH - 24TH MARCH 2017

  BUDAPEST IN HUNGARY

     ACTIVITY &  EATING TEAM

 by the beautiful blue Danube

Why we love Budapest

We fell in love with Budapest for all the right reasons – beautiful scenery with the majestic Danube river and the views from the Buda hills - architecture representing unique blend of old and modern – thermal baths offering the marvelous medicinal natural hot spring waters - Hungarian cuisine surving much more than famous goulash.

However, it was Hungarian hospitality and amazing kind open-minded people that made us memorize the week spent together in this beautiful European capital city for a life time.

The project team meeting week was organised in a way that students and teachers could meet and discover various customs of Hungary, cultural heritage sites of Budapest and its surroundings, take part in different and not ordinary sport activities, strenghten students friendship and give a wide insight in exceptional hosting institution.
International school BME Két Tanítási Nyelvü Gimnázium gave us the chance to experience multinational and multicultural atmosphere accompanying the students in their everyday school life. It provided a perfect enviroment to work and have fun together.

From the visiting countries 22 students and 11 teachers took part in this exchange. Poland with 2 teachers and 6 students, Italy with 2 teachers and 6 students, France with 2 teachers and 5 students, Portugal with 5 teachers and 5 students.
In the Hungarian team 21 students were hosting and 6 teachers took part in the majority of the programs, but the all school, teachers and students,  contributed to make this week, fruitfull, enjoyable, so all the planned programs and activities could run smoothly.

Arrival of delegations at the List Ferenc airport

Teachers and hosting families were waiting for the delegations. Teachers were transfered to the hotel, and students took their mates to their families were they had different activities for the first day. During the evening when all participant delegations arrived, teachers had their first dinner at the Kiskakuk restaurant where our principal welcomed everyone, for the week.

1st day  The 4th exchange week officially started

While students attended classes in the morning , teachers had their meeting to talk about the work done, the results and some follow up activities.
The morning ended with a visit to the school then it followed the group visit to BME University.
We had a delicious lunch at Goldman cafeteria.
In the afternoon we met for the students ' presentations on the topic A Year of Wellness which were a show of the most interesting Health Month Themes activities in each partner country.
Afterwards we walked and climbed Gellért hill from which we had a stunning view of Budapest. After the official program all could enjoy the evening lights of the city.

2nd day  Exploring BUDA &  PEST corners
Erasmus groups were given maps with specific destinations. Groups had to figure out the easiest, shortest and fastest way to find the indicated famous squares, buildings in Budapest and perform different tasks. Students and teachers had approximately 4 hours to complete the exercise, but obviously the faster we were, the better it was. We improved our map-reading skills and explored Budapest together!

In the afternoon we had a very nice bicycle trip next to the river Danube. The weather was beautiful, the students and the teachers enjoyed atmosphere of the nature.

Teachers have analyzed reports on the implementation of  PERSONAL LIFESTYLE PLANNER in each partner school. They also drew conclusions from the results of  students' physical fitness tests done in each school using ZUCHORA's physical fitness tests. Based on data from individual schools, final joint  report Evaluate Your Wellness Program for Success was prepared. The report describes students’ attitude towards rational lifestyle at the initial and final stage of the project.

In the afternoon the students devided into international teams played floorball, then all the team visited The Great Market Hall " Nagycsarnok". The teachers  visited Buda's Castle and in the evening they saw a folk dance performance at Palace of Arts

5th day   Meet a Real Magyar in Nature

From the very morning we had a real activity and eating day. We had a trip to Kemence in  the North Hungarian Mountains which are the part of the Inner Western Carpathians. The varied landscape offers good hiking opportunities and a large part of the Börzsöny is a national park.

In the morning we had a nice walk, hiking in the forrest.  After physical activity we took part in a culinary workshops to cook two different traditional Hungarian foods, a soup ‘Palócleves’ and ’Kenyérlángos’. It is a flat bread, similar to the traditional Italian pizza but instead of tomato sauce it’s topped with mashed potatoes with dill. It could be spiced with sugar or salt depending on a taste of the eater. Margit Néni, the old lady, energetic rural housewife was the undeniable leader of the cooking. This was another opportunity for joint cooking and excellent group work.
The workshop was organised in The Kemence Forestry Museum Railway thus we could not miss the opportunity to ride Hungary’s longest narrow-gauge forest railway in picturesques Börzsöny hills. Pure fun!

In the afternoon we gathered around  a big outdoor wood fired oven to bake the bread. Waiting for the dish to be ready we spontaneously took another challenge. Each team had to create a living sculpture related to the theme of the project.
In the evening, in the light of the setting sun we ate our tasty foods and enjoyed it much.

A YEAR OF WELLNESS SUMMARY

Evaluate Your Wellness Program for Success

Year 2016 has come to an end. Time to summarize a year of project actions focused on improving our lifestyle, ie, eating habits and models of
 physical activity.

During the year, students in all partner schools worked on improving their way of life with the help of a tool designed to plan  own goals and evaluate progress- Personal Healthy Lifestyle Planner- Food & Activity & Recreation Journal .
The students listed  the amount and type of active leisure per week and posted information about their daily diet, they created small healthy goals by that means they simply had the chance to follow  some small steps to a healthier life.

Based on the opinions of students working with the journal, each school produced a report. Conclusions from the reports, together with the results of the fitness tests, were used to prepare a joint report summarizing the project activities and their impact on the health and well-being of the participants in the project. The report also describes students’ attitude towards rational lifestyle at the initial and final stage of the project.

14TH - 18th november 2016

  Seia IN portugal

     ACTIVITY & EATING TEAM

Hunting for the rooster

What’s going on with this rooster? It’s everywhere in this country: on mugs, T shirts, bags, towels, pads etc. Wherever you go, you always see the black rooster looking at you. After some time in this country, it is obvious for every tourist that it is MUST HAVE of this trip. It is a symbol of justice that will always win if you fight for it.

Portugal welcomed us with a beautiful weather and warm hearts of host families. Seia is a town located in the centre of Serra da Estrela, a natural mountain resort of Portugal. Outstanding views, steep hills and clean air took our breath away. Seia is rich of places worth seeing and people always ready to help foreigners. The host partners, did their best to keep our Portuguese memories forever.

MONDAY 14TH November -   OFFICIAL OPENING

THE SHOW TIME STARTED!

A day started with a warm  welcome in a school  library by the Portuguese hosts - the Headteacher Mrs Emilia Nascimento and the project coordinator Mrs Cristina Nunes Almeida.
The first day  aimed at presenting local options possible to ‘exercise’ by tourists. During the morning each school presented a PowerPoint presentation Exercise your local Options and Be Active your Way

The morning was completed with the work on the International Exhibition of photographs, documenting the tours and all forms of activities taken under the implementation of the 2nd and 3rd Step activities of the Project, titled EXERCISE YOUR LOCAL OPTIONS
The school hall turned into a real photo exhibition. 150 photos of local touristic attractions  were hung on a wall. We had an opportunity to admire a beauty of places we live in.

As it was an art day, after visiting school's facilities the students were quite busy in the workshop to create an International Dance under the heading CHALLANGE YOUR INSPIRATION. Each school presented and danced the traditional music and afterwards decided to use some of the movements of each to make a new international performance.

In the afternoon, we were invited for tea to the City Hall of Seia where a Deputy of the Mayor made a welcoming speech. With heads full of new pictures, we fell asleep with hope to experience more.

tuesday 15TH NOVEMBER

NEED  GOOD EDUCATION? GO TO COIMBRA- A CITY OF HIGHLY EDUCATED PEOPLE.

It was time for one of local attractions near Seia, Coimbra. The previous capital city of Portugal. Coimbra, called a city of doctors, is well known as one of the oldest university centre in the world. We admired ancient library and audition halls, strolled through narrow streets of this place. Each year Coimbra resounds with FADO music at the FADO festival that gathers thousands of people. The day finished with a boat trip along the Mondego river. We had a chance to rest and took some photos of sunlight bathed  Coimbra.

wednesday 16TH NOVEMBER

EXERCISE THE SEIA’S OPTIONS.

Seia is the town full of natural, local attraction because of its location, in a centre of Serra da Estrela. We started our sightseeing tour with a cute train journey to the Museum of Bread. It was not only a place to learn something about a history of bread, its ways of production, but we had an opportunity to make some bread and then take it home. We were astonished by a fairytale surrounding and a cute sprat. In good moods we powered up our visit with the Museum of Electricity where students observed the process of power production. We finished our day with a long walk along the river Sra do Desterro. Its water reflected the beauty of Portuguese autumn. Hiking is popular in this area so we experienced Exercise Seia Local options in the Natural park of Serra da Estrela, in Mata da Sra do Desterro. The biologist, José Conde, who taught us about the fauna and flora and showed enthusiastically some species we found through the tracks. He took this opportunity to make us aware of the importance of respecting nature and the living species inhabiting this area.

The evening we spent in a casual but elegant surroundings in Escola Superior de Turismo e Hotelaria where all partners and students involved in the project spent an evening accompanied with live music. Apart from delicious food, small talks and good music, we danced until midnight and had a real fun.

tursday 17TH NOVEMBER

BOOST YOUR ENERGY IN MANNEQUIN CHALLANGE!

The Portuguese coordinator did not forget about being active and fit. Montebelo Golf Club near Viseu  greeted us with  perfect weather and emotions we have never experienced. Many of us played golf for a first time. It  wasn’t as easy as we thought. Even hitting a ball was a challenge for some of us J.  As we always want to be in fashion, we took part in The Mannequin Challenge.
Winter sports fans had a chance to practice ice skating in Palacio do Gelo in Viseu. Searching for souvenirs mastered our minds till the late evening. Finally the black roosters  J squawked  out of our shopping bags.

friday 18TH NOVEMBER

FOLK FAREWELL PARTY- THROUGH THE STOMACH TO THE HEART

It is time for saying  goodbye, thanking the partners for good cooperation and devotion to the A& E project and hugging all newly met friends. The Portuguese partners not only carefully prepared activities for a whole week of the short exchange of students, but also perfectly led up the farewell day.

In the morning the students attended their mates’ classes. On this last day we had a chance to enjoy another exhibition  CHALLENGE YOUR ROOTS, in which local products related to Eating and Wellness were presented. Then students continued rehearsal for the final international performance CHALLENGE YOUR INSPIRATION.

At the same time teachers had a management meeting and later on attended a training workshop  ETWINNING- AS A SUPPORT OF ERASMUS PROJECTS with the eTwinning ambassador, Teresa Lacerda. This workshop allowed us to understand how twinspace platform can help to support Erasmus+ projects, learn how to integrate web2.0 tools  and collaborate through twinspace.

In the afternoon the Closing Session began with the delivery of Certificates.

Then the time for the final show came.

The students presented the Challenge Your Inspiration dance and then a local folk group appeared on a dance floor. We were amused by their performance and life music that accompanied the show.  Parents and students prepared a wonderful dinner party. There were chestnuts, healthy muffins and a tomato jam and other new tastes to test this evening. We are leaving enriched by unique memories of this unforgettable week full of ACTIVITY in Portugal as well as EATING. All together we Exercised Local Options and it is a motivation to continue being active and healthy. Each of us has to find ways, strategies to be active. Schools and Projects like ours can influence students to be more physically active and healthy.

Dear Cristina,
There are no words to express our gratitude and happiness. Thank you for unforgettable moments.
Dear host parents and students ,
You stole our hearts but we will let you keep it J
